Dublin in Feb

I will be in Dublin for a couple of days in Feb and would like to know what the weather is like? Also - I have seen many posts about many sites (even in Dublin) that are closed during mid Feb. Has anyone been there during the winter and has advice on what to do and see?

I think the Irish like to call it "soft weather". It rains a lot but, because of the ocean, tends to stay more like Seattle than really cold like our plains states. The days will be very short however, and will seem even shorter because of the likely cloudy skies. You should check out websites for sites you're interested in to see what is open and what isn't. Guidebooks generally report hours for high and shoulder seasons, they can be completely wrong when traveling off-season.

We were there in December two years ago and weather was what I call "raw", not cold but just damp. Did wear a woolen coat and layers though in Dublin but did not need layers further south.

I have been twice in February. On my first trip, it was green and cool but not cold (they were mowing the grass at Newgrange), except for one day in Dublin when it was really cold and it "snowed" (if you call the occasional flake "snow"). On my second trip, we had soft weather one day, one chilly day, one really cold day, and the rest were cool but sunny. It's never very predictable, but I have had good luck with February weather.

Weather in Dublin in February? Could be anything? Generally speaking, February is one of our colder months, could have frost and/or snow, in my view it doesn't rain that much in Dublin (certainly compared with the West of Ireland). We had way way more rain during this summer that we had last winter, we had a lovely mild dryish winter last year. Thats not much of a help I'm afraid. I would imagine that nearly all tourist attractions will be open in February, but better just to check on their websites to be sure. Wrap up enjoy your visit!
