I stayed at the Glen Guesthouse on Gardiner St. It's a couple of blocks from O'Connell St, right behind the Custom House. It's walking distance to the Temple Bar, Trinity College, Grafton St area. www.glenguesthouse.com

This section of Dublin is also very close to the Bus Eireann station where you can get the Airlink bus to the airport. I have stayed at the Townhouse of Dublin, also on Lower Gardiner Street, and it has been fine. Also close to Connolly train station.
