Dublin Hostels

Does anyone have any insight into City Centre Hostels in Dublin?

From personal experience I highly recommend the Globetrotters Hostel. It's very clean and secure. It shares a registration desk with a B&B so hostel guests get the same fabulous full Irish breakfast as the B&B guests.

I'm going to second the recommendation of Globetrotters - I stayed there five nights back in March 09 - three of the nights I had the six bed room all to myself, which was wonderful! It is in a very good, walkable location.

I also stayed at Globetrotters and was happy with it! I've heard some pretty sketchy things about hostels in Dublin, so make sure to read up on whichever one you end up choosing!

Before I decided to stay at Trinity College, I researched hostels online and came very close to booking at Kinlay House. I ultimately chose the college because I wanted that experience/atmosphere, not because I thought Kinlay wouldn't be good. Anyway, I walked by it while I was there (it's across the street from Christchurch Cathedral) and it looked well taken care of. It's south of the River Liffey, closer to Temple Bar area, while it looks like Globetrotters is north of the Liffey, closer to the bus/train stations.

I liked staying at Trinity College... it made me feel special to look out my window at all the tourists, lol.

Another recommendation for Globetrotters! I've stayed there twice in the past year. It's a great location and they have a wonderful breakfast and free wifi. It's very quiet which can be awesome, but it wasn't a very social place. That might be because it's attached to a hotel or because I was there for off peak season. Just thought I'd mention that because sometimes that's what people are looking for w/ their hostel experience.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts. I will be there the middle of April, and I do want to be in a hostel that has people in it and is social. Globetrotter's sounds good, though. Thanks to all.

Although i have never stayed there, it is in the best funnest area of Dublin. I recommend Gogarty's. You are in the heart of temple bar, only have to walk downstairs to hear awesome free live music.
