While in the UK I want to go to Ireland to fulfill a promise I made to my deceased son. Long story short, I want to go to a pub and buy a round of drinks in his memory and leave one of his favorite shot glasses there so part of him will always be in Ireland. A flight is reasonable but getting to a pub from the airport may not be. We can stay over night but we're lost how to proceed. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There's easy public transport (bus) that takes you right into the heart of the city, and there are pubs everywhere once you are there. You shouldn't have a problem finding a place.

Hi!
If you mean East Midlands Airport in England, than you'll need to take a train and a ferry to Ireland, or hop another flight (there are a lot of cheap flights from this airport). East Midlands is right by Nottingham but not much else. I used to live in Loughborough, which is cute but not high on any sight-seeing list. Good luck.
