Dublin Dinner & Show

We are interested in experiencing a dinner and show in Dublin, Ireland. Can anyone recommend a good place to do this, at a reasonable cost? We will be staying at the Mespil Hotel located on the south side of Dublin, in Georgian Dublin along the Grand Canal about 15 minutes walk from St Stephens Green. Any info you can provide i.e., name of restaurant, location, price, etc., would be extremely helpful. Thank you.

I am going to Ireland in June and I have been reading the Rick Steves Ireland book along with looking on web sites for tours. I will be in Dublin before the tour and after so I too am looking to see a play or show. They don't have "dinner shows". I have been to dinner shows in th states. They do have plays at Abbey theatre and the Gaiety theatre and the Gate theatre. The Abbey is very famous.
Theatre is popular in Dublin as is in NYC and London and Chicago. You will not have trouble finding a play to see. You can go to a nice resturant or a pub before the play. Dublin is famous for their Musical Pub Crawl. You can ask your hotel about them or google musical pub crawls to find out more and how to buy tickets for it. Again, I don't think you eat during the pub crawl but you can eat a bit at a pub before hand. I hope this helps. I am most interested in learning from you experience as I will be in Dublin on my own and I too want to experience evening life in Dublin. I already booked a play for one nite that I am there and plan to book another play and a musical pub crawl. You can read more about it in the RS Ireland book too. Have a great time. Ann

There are a couple of "trad" shows heavily advertised in Dublin. There are brochures at all the hotels and at many sites. There are also signs around town. One I recall was north of the river and the other was south of the river and Temple Bar area. We didn't go to either of these. We loved the musical pub crawl mostly for the descriptions about the music and culture. There was also a concert at St James Episcopal in Dingle that was excellent.

I went to the Food, Folk, and Fairies dinner two and a half years ago when I was in Dublin. Rick Steves does mention it in his book, and I also highly recommend it. It is in the Brazen Head pub, which is definitely some place worth visiting for a pint anyways. You can also read about it in trip advisor. Here is the link:

We did a dinner and dance show at a hotel in Dublin a couple of years ago. It was the Noel V. Doyle's Irish Cabaret in the Burlington Hotel Dublin. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. The dancing, music and jokes were great. Was worth the trip one time.
