Looking to do a day trip out of Dublin by bus tour, rail or will rent a car. Looking for a recommendation of something fun to see and do but need to be back in Dublin by 5pm. Did see the town of Kilkenney...any thoughts. Thanks

Kilkenney is just okay. Not sure how far away is Cashel but it is worth it if you rent a car. There might be bus tours for a day trip to Newgrange which is very worth it, I think you can see it on one of Rick's shows. You can also look it up on the net. Very historic site.

I'm not a Kilkenny fan, sorry.
The two "standard" day trips from Dublin are either to Newgrange and the Boyne River valley, or to Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains. Both are very worth the trip. There are full-day and half day bus tours available to both areas. I love Cashel, too, but don't know about what bus tours are available to that area (I always drive).
