We will be in Dublin in March and are looking at some of the day tours mentioned in the Guidebook. Can anyone recommend any particular tour operator and/or tour. Thanks
The two I have used and can recommend are with www.railtoursireland.com and www.buseireann.ie. There are several others including Wild Wicklow-Over the Tops Tours and Paddywagon.
Mary Gibbons Tours are a 'must do' for Newgrange, Hill of Tara and the Boyne Valley.
When you arrive, check with the TI by Dublin Castle, located in a converted church. They should have plenty of suggestions.
We took a day tour to the Boyne Valley provided by Bus Eirenn. It included Newgrange, the Hill of Tara and the battle of the Boyne. We purchased tickets one day at the central bus station and caught the bus there the next morning.
I thought it was a great value and would take the same trip again.
There is a similar trip by Bus Eirenn to Glendalough from the central bus station.
We took a day trip to Belfast a couple of years ago with Paddywagon. It included a Black Taxi tour of the Protestant & Catholic areas (the Troubles). We also had some free time in downtown Belfast and stopped at the ruins at Monasterboice on the way back to Dublin. The Paddywagon tour was a small bus, just a little bigger than a van, and the driver was friendly and informative. It was as advertised and we would recommend Paddywagon. Have fun on your trip!
There's also a Tourist Information desk at Dublin airport.
We went a great tour from Dublin to Co.Wicklow visiting Irish country pubs, the scenery was amazing.
if you like Irish music & Guinness its great fun
I used the Wild Wicklow tour company about two weeks ago for a day tour of Wicklow and Glendalough. Fantastic guide, excellent pub for lunch, fun day!
