I know there's no hard and fast answer, but I need input on how long it's going to take once we arrive in Dublin from USA until we can hop on a bus. We arrive in Dublin at 9:25 a.m. and there's a Kavanaugh bus that leaves the airport at 10:15. Next one is after 13:00, so a long time to wait if we miss... Do you think it likely that we can catch that bus after getting luggage and going through customs?

Part II. If we can't catch the bus, do you think we could get to Heuston station in time to catch the 11:10 train? Part III. We have friends flying in Dublin around 13:30 who plan on driving to Kilkenny. Should we just wait for them? But what to do with all that down time? We're going to be major jet lagged and have luggage to haul around with us. THoughts? Suggestions? Thanks again.

A lot depends upon how many flights are arriving at that time of day and the number of people trying to clear customs and immigration. It also depends on if you checked your luggage and have to wait for it at the luggage carousel, or only took carry on. I think it would be stretching it to catch the bus by 10:15, unless your flight arrived early. My suggestions: Grab a latte or coffee....you may need the caffeine to compbat jet lag! Then, kill an hour or 2 in the duty-free shop....see what you might want to buy upon your return to the airport before leaving or so you can compare to what you find on the rest of your trip in gift shops during your travels. The 3rd and best plan after that would be to get a head start on some Guinness in the airport lounge! Let your friends worry about the transportation!

It's doubtful that you will make a 10:15 bus after arriving at 9:25. No guarantees that you will arrive on time in the first place, and there will be hundreds of people on your plane (plus any other planes that arrive at the same time). You will have to get through immigration, get your bags, maybe stop at the restroom or get some cash or a snack, and find your way to the bus stop. But if your next option is a 1:00 bus, you might as well wait for your friends - I'm assuming you're going to the same place?
