Dublin accommodations

Hi! I'm looking to book a more budget place to stay in Dublin and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Has anyone ever stayed at the Trinity College dorms or the Harding Hotel? Thanks a bunch!

I haven't stayed at either of those places, but you might try the Glen Guesthouse on Gardiner St. It's a couple of blocks from O'Connell St., just across the river from the Temple Bar area. www.glenguesthouse.com

Hi Linda, My daughter stayed at the Harding last October on Ricks tour and thought it was great for the price. Remodeled within the last year,on the edge of Temple Bar,directly across street from Christ Church, and about a one minute walk from Leo Burdicks fish and chips and also very close to stop for the hop on hop off bus tour. I stayed there twice a few years ago and the location can not be beat.

I stayed at Trinity College dorms last year. To save more money, I chose a room that was not ensuite (though they do have rooms with private bath). The room I got faced a very quiet interior courtyard behind the building where the Book of Kells is located. Overall, I found no problems with noise - especially at night once they close the gates to the daytime tourists.

Room was extremely large (though I think they may vary in size as I saw a few smaller rooms when the maids where cleaning). Besides the bed, room contained a large desk, big wardrobe, leather sofa, coffee table, sink/vanity & fireplace. There was a small kitchen on my floor for use by guests, but Trinity provides 2 breakfast options for guests (free continental, or pay extra to get hot breakfast - the continental gives you plenty of food, so unless you really want eggs, skip paying the extra).

Trinity has self-serve laundry facilities on site as well. Overall, good value for the money.
