I have always traveled solo and now am bringing my guy and am curious how large the "double" beds are in Ireland. Are they truly the same small size as our "doubles"? Thanks!

Pretty much. Assume that you'll be given what would be considered a full-sized bed over here, not a queen and definitely not a king.
