Does 14-day Ireland tour go through Cahir?

Have just finished part of my family's genealogy and I have traced one ancestor back to Cahir. Does anyone know if the 14-day Ireland tour bus goes through Cahir on the way from Dublin to Kinsale?

If you are talking about a Rick Steves tour, the best way to find out is to ask their tour department directly. This board is not frequented by Rick or his staff on a regular basis; we are all "members of the traveling public," just like yourself. You can call the RS Tour Department at 425-608-4217, or email them here.

Be sure and talk to the guide at the beginning of the tour. When I took this tour several years ago, there was a lady of the tour who had the picture (and address) of her grandmother's home in a small town that we were passing close to. The guide asked if anyone had an objection to taking a short detour and no one did. We drove up to the house, the guide took her to the front door, explained to the people that she wanted a picture of herself in front of the house and all was well. This was just one of several detours we took so that people could see or get a picture of something related to family in Ireland.

Thank you for the reply. I was just curious to hear from others that had previously taken the 14-day tour.

The tour stops to tour the Rock of Cashel and then goes onto to stay overnight in Kinsale. Since it's only about an hour from Cashel to Kinsale you'll probably pass near Cahir on the M8 but the freeway bypasses the town and there's no reason for them to stop there. I doubt you can see much of Cahir from the freeway except the sign pointing to it. Sorry it's not a definitive answer but it's a practical one. The tour takes 2 nights in Kinsale so if you were willing to miss the day at Kinsale you might be able to arrange separate transport and take the hour to go to Cahir for a day to get in touch with your roots. But you would need to check both that you're allowed to do that and about transport and maybe a tour between the two. Good luck on getting in touch with your roots,
