Disposable Razor Blades or Electric Shaver

My family and I are going on a 5 week trip to Europe in Sept. I normally use disposable, 3-blade razors to shave. I usually get 3 shaves out each. However, they're expensiveeven here in the US. I also have an electric razor which does an adequate job. What would you recommend: 1 - Bring disposables from home 2 - Purchase disposables in Europe
3 - Bring the electric razor I know it's a mundane question, but I'd like to feel shaved every morning while keeping my travel weight low. Thanks for your advice.

You could start off with a couple of disposables from home and see how far you get. You can always buy more there if you need to. I absolutely wouldn't lug around an electric razor.

I used disposable on a 6-week trip shaving every other day. I used only one razor. Still worked well enough even at the end. You can't travel any lighter than that unless you grow a beard. But maybe you are more "Mediterranean" than I.

You only get three shaves out of each? I think the shaves get better after about 4 or 5 uses. The BICs are horrible but I've not had problems with the disposable triple blade Schick, Gillette or the Wal-Mart store brand. I rinse well in hot water, shake out any water and store with the cap on. I get at least a month out of a single razor and I shave every day. I'm going to GB in a couple of weeks for just under three weeks and I have a new disposable razor in my bag. I won't need another one. On a 5 week trip I might pack two but probably wouldn't.

Actually use a Braun electric that runs on two AA for about a month and weighs 7 oz. Only has one cutting head so that it is a bit slower but your are on vacation so what is an extra two or three minutes.

Ben, I normally use an electric Razor at home, so that's what I use when travelling also. If you decide to pack the electric, be sure to check the Charger to ensure it's designed for "world operation".

My husband has a wiry beard and very sensitive skin, and he nevertheless buys his disposable razors when we get to Europe. It's just one less thing to pack, and he always finds a suitable 3-razor brand that works well. Not that much more pricy than buying them in the US, if you go to a discount-y store/hypermarket.

WOW!!! How can you guys use the same razor for that long? I am with the original poster and can only get maybe 5 shaves out of it before it feels like it is pulling out more wiskers than it is cutting. My last trip (2 Weeks in Ireland) I brought a 5-pack of disposables from home and came back home with 1 unused. They were readily available at local stores if I had needed more. The weird thing was that my wife had a heck of a time trying to find ladies shaving cream.

I've used the same electric razor for 5 years now, it came with me to London a few years ago (never needed to recharge it during the trip) and it will come with me again. No need for shaving cream or worries about razor cuts.

I win. I can use the same disposable razor for months and months. Maybe it is the shave creme I use?
