Dingle Races

Hi, I tried the advanced google search function and couldn't find this answer so I apologize if I have missed it.

My husband and I are taking a 21 day vacation to Europe in Aug. I am in the process of making hotel reservations and I just realized that the dates I planned on being in Dingle aligns exactly with the dates of the Dingle Races.

Has anyone tried to visit during this event? I am trying to figure out how big of an issue it is and whether I need to readjust my schedule. Any help would be appreciated.

The DIngle Races is a big event! It is also a unique experience. The town does get quite busy for those three days and the pubs are full. But in the summaer Dingle is a full town without the races. Plan on seeng the race! These are LONG races sometime more than 2 miles in length. In the centerfield is a carnival type doings- where the bookies also station themselves. The bookies are the old fashion type who take your bet-write it in the book - and give you a claim ticket. The best part at times can be the announcer- many a time have seen the Jameson Bottle raised as he announces the aces which are broadcast over the radio. DIngle Races weekend is a must see- I myself will be there for the friday races this year.

Wow - that sounds great. We got a room and are going to be there for 2 nights and two days so I'll try to catch a race. FUN!
