daytripping out of copenhagen

I leave in a little under 2 weeks for a 1 week stay in Copenhagen. My daughter is there studying abroad and will be attending class every day, so we will be taking day trips every day with a base in Copenhagen. I would like suggestions on where to go. One day I plan to take the train to the top and cross over into Sweden, take the train down Sweden stopping along the way and cross back over in Malmo. Not sure to go over to Funen and where to go there?? Also which day trips are the best on Zealand? We are planning to leave early and arrive back to the hotel in late afternoon. Any help would be great

I would strongly 2nd Frederikborg. We had a great day there and could have lingered longer in teh gardens and the town, itself. You caouls pass a whole liesurely day there.

Helsinor was much less interesting, but not unworthy of a visit.

The city of Roskilde is worth a whole day, too.

(I hope I didn't butcher the spelling too much here. I'm too lazy to look it up)

If you like modern art, there is a very good museum called the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, in Humlebaek. I know you can get to the town, which, as I recall, is about 20 miles from Copenhagen, by train. If you go, try to do so on a sunny day. There is a wonderful sculpture garden which looks out on to Oresund and across to Sweden.

I'm planning on going in July. Daytrip plans for me at this point are (written without special characters):

Helsingor and Kronberg Castle (we'll probably add a trip north to the beaches in the afternoon). This would be a good place for you to add a ferry to Sweden and train back to Malmo, then Copenhagen.

Dragor.

Roskilde, Viking Ship Museum and Cathedral.

Frederiksborg Castle and gardens plus possibly a train to the beaches on the north coast.

We're planning on getting the Copenhagen card. It covers all the transportation you need to get to these places by train (plus a bunch of free admissions) but wouldn't cover any Sweden transportaion. A three day Copenhagen card costs the same as two one day cards.

I've heard there is also a one-day card that would cover all transportation for the round trip up to Helsingor, ferry, Malmo and back to Copenhagen - but I haven't priced it yet.
