Day trips from Bath to Cotswold towns

Are there local buses that leave from Bath that travel to some of the Cotswold towns?

Technically I'm sure if you studied the timetables you could string together something but unless you're doing it to prove a point its not really realstic for the average tourist. I would recommend you use the inexpensive Mad Max Day Tour to the Cotswolds that runs out of Bath http://www.madmax.abel.co.uk/

I replied to another copy of this question until I realized it was a duplicate post. I won't confuse you or our readers so I have deleted that answer. I will give my answer here. Please do not post duplicates. Thanks. For local bus information in the UK try

Hi Sondra, The best way to see the Cotswold villages is with your own car. You can picK-up a car in Bath, or over by the airport in Bristol. I think Enterprise will deliver the car to you if needed. If you've never rented a car in England before, you will want to specify that you want an automatic transmission when you book the car, or the default vehicle will be a standard. Also, if you do not have a GPS, rent one with the car. You'll be able to see twice as much if you don't have to worry about finding your way around these small rual towns. Here are a couple of links that might interest you: http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/cotswold/ http://www.thecotswoldwalkingcompany.com/cotswoldway.html?gclid=CPerhoCi0aYCFcNM4Aod9yjMIA I'd suggest that you see Tetbury while your there. Have a goood trip.

I highly reccommend Mad Max tours. It is a bargain for the amount of driving they do. The drivers are very knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour we took of Stonehenge, Avebury, and Cotswald.

we visited stonehenge from bath on a tour that was not mad max (i tried to make mad max reservations, but no one ever replied. i think they are very, very busy.) and while the tour was ok (crazy rushed), we wished we'd rented a car. even with driving on the other side of the road, we would have been fine. the roads are beautiful and, at least between bath and stonehenge, pretty darn empty. winding, scenic...the whole time i kept saying 'we could have done this on our own, and for DAYS!' we will return and we will rent a car. best of luck with whatever you decide!

I did the Costwolds Discovery Tour with Mad Max Tours this summer and quite enjoyed it. You see much more than you could on local transportation. And you don't have to drive! I booked ahead of time on their website- they run on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursday. Book ahead so you don't miss out. Erika

The Mad Max tours out of Bath are highly rated. You won't go wrong with their Cotswold tours. Not sure how long you will be in Bath as their are other nice day trips if you have a rental car. Two other trips we did were to Castle Coombe and Stourhead Gardens. We were there for the Jane Austen festival in mid-September so we were there for 5 nights which is longer than most people care to stay in Bath.
