Planning a day trip from London to Hever Castle. Want to know if we would be back in London for a show on the same night?
You can get a train at Victoria Station to either Edenbridge Town Station which is 3 miles from the castle, there are taxi's there that you can get. Or take the train to Hever Station which is a mile from the castle and you can walk to, there isn't taxi's the the Hever station. You will have to change trains once at East Croydon. It's a 45 minute ride out and around 50 minutes back to London. You could get there around 10am spend as much as you want get a train back to London around 4pm, which would give you time for dinner and the theatre. There are several trains a hour going to and coming back so you won't have any trouble.
I've recently visited Hever.
It is a nice place with a nice garden. There is a small nice tea room cum coffee shop - I wouldn't say it qualifies as a restaurant.
A pleasant afternoon to be had, but I wouldn't say all day.
Gardens open 10:30am
Castle opens 12 noon
