My husband and I plan on seeing the Kronborg castle and would like to then take the ferry to Helsingborg. Generally we don't carry our passports with us, but would we need to in this case? I just don't want to get there only to be denied entrance. Thanks in advance for your help!
Take it. You should always have your passport when traveling between countries. The chances that you would need it are small, but the reprocussions if you don't have one are huge.
I haven't taken the ferry but they may want to see your passport when you buy your tickets (at the ticket window).
Thank you! When I traveled between the Netherlands and Belgium by train it was not an issue, so I just wanted to be sure. Thanks again!
You should bring your passport, although chances are small that you are checked (there are no regular checks between nordic countries because of the nordic passport union that predates the Schengen agreement). Citizens of the nordic countries are not required to bring passports when travelling between the countries, but as a non-nordic citizen, you are legally required to bring your passport, but again, most likely you will not be asked to show it anywhere. Also, you do not need it to buy tickets.
