day tours out of Kinsale?

I am trying to decide whether to stay in Cork city or Kinsale while in Cork County....I know there will be day tours out of Cork city, does anyone know if there are day tours out of Kinsale?

We don't have a car and day tours are our best bet for seeing all we can on a quick stop in Cork county. Thanks.

Margaret, I don't know of any "day tours" in Kinsale, however you might consider www.kinsale.ie/acwalk.htm for excellent walking tours of the city. The guides are incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the area. If you're interested in touring Charles Fort, they have guides on staff (if the weather is nice, it's about a 45 minute walk from Kinsale, or take a Taxi).

Cheers!

Margaret, you might have a look at Friar's Lodge in Kinsale. It's a four star property and right in town, so easy walking location. I'm sure it would make a nice impression for your grand daughter's first visit to Kinsale!

For restaurant suggestions, I recall some good meals at Gina's Cafe, the Blue Haven Hotel/Restaurant and The Little Skillet. Not sure what age your Grand daughter is, but The Tap Pub has lots of history and character (they serve Guinness, Murphy's & Beamish, and I had to try all three!).

Finally, you might enjoy the Ghost Tours (which begin a The Tap Pub). The two individuals that provide the tour are quite entertaining.

Happy travels!

Kent...I am also from oregon! Your website was great. Kinsale is only a short bus ride from Cork airport and the site left me with no doubt that this is where I want to stay! Beautiful. My 3rd trip to Ireland but my grand daughter's first and I want her first night to be a just such a place. If we don't get a day tour it is no big deal, we will just head on to Dingle. Again, thanks. PS...have a favorite B & B in Kinsale?

Vernon,

Hey...she is 18 and doesn't drink, but Gramma does. :-) Great suggestion about the pub...on my list right now... and the ghost walk. I took a very amusing ghost walk in Bath, England last year....great laughs and fun. This sounds like something entertaining too. Thanks, appreciate the suggestions.

Margaret, I stayed at the Old Bakery this last May and can recommend it highly. Great location within easy walking distance of everything in town and only a short block from the harbor.
