Dan Dooley Car Rental or Hertz Car Rental

I have rented from DD without a major problem. I have heard some mixed reviews from others though.

We rented from Dan Dooley twice with no problems.

We used Hertz for a monthly, prepaid, rental at Shannon airport. We were not especially pleased. They tried to stick us with what must have been the oldest, most beat up, car in the fleet. It was prepaid so they knew that we couldn't just walk away. We stuck to our guns and finnally got a satisfactory car but only after a hassle. We drove down to Dingle for a stay and, guess what, a little later the clunker arrived in the parking lot. They gave it to some one else.

I rented from Budget without any problems. I have noticed in my price shopping that DD is very upfront with costs -- particuarly insurance costs. Many companies in Ireland hide these very carefully. When I booked with Budget, I thought I had gotten a deal over DD; but as all the charges came through, I think it was close to a wash.

I had a Skoda that was all banged up - little dings all over the car but nothing that wasn't cosmetic. The drivers mirror worked but the plastic cowling was cracked. Everyone gave me lots of room on the roads. I eventually decided that they took one look at the car and figured they better be extra careful around me.

We used Dan Dooley this last September. They are very accurate with their quotes. No surprises when we got there. We rented for 12 days and were completely happy with the car (Fiat Punto) and the service.

Definitely Dan Dooley, used them numerous times and always very good.

We're using Dan Dooley for the first time when we arrive in Dublin on 2/20 and everyone we've talked to about them have been happy with the cars and the service.
