Years ago we stayed in a great little hotel in London. It was in an area that was a half circle. The area in the middle of the circle was a small park and ringing it were a bunch of old houses that were turned into little hotels or B & B's. It was about two blocks from the tube station and we walked past a grocery each day on the way to the tube. It was in a fairly suburban neighborhood, there was a park near-by the kids played on. I think it was in the S part of London, and I want to say maybe S. of Kensington. We were stationed in Germany at the time and this little area was a popular "you have to stay here" word of mouth place for Army wives?
Are you trying to locate it again? Which tube station was it near?
Yes, Debra, your post ends with a question mark, but otherwise it's a long statement that never really asks a question.
The description could fit a dozen different places.
I am pretty familiar with London and it does sound like it could be South Kensington, because there is a Sainsburys there. And it is pretty much residential, with the rounded areas you are speaking of. I can picture it because I walked all over that area, having stayed there myself.
I have a few pics of the area, you can PM me and I can email some to you so you can see if it looks familiar...
There are 3 tube stations about the same distance apart - South Kensington tube, Earls Court tube and Gloucester Road tube.
This could be hundreds of squares.....a few questions:
1) when you say S part of London--do you mean south of the Thames river?
2) If not, could it be Chelsea? Fulham?
3) WAs the grocery store a large supermarket or a smaller one?
4) Any of these sound familiar--Lennox Gardens? Pelham Crescent? The Boltons? Warwick Rd?
