My wife is interested in buying crystal for wedding gifts while we travel in Ireland, my question is will she do just as well buying online and not having to transport the gifts back to the states ? Thank you

We bought some Waterford crystal at the Waterford visitor center and at a shop in Killarney and saved about 20% vs Chicago retail prices for the same pieces, but that was 5 years ago.
There are just too many variables in pricing, exchange rates, shipping costs & taxes to give a pat answer to your question.
But I will say that it's very fun to be able to give a gift of crystal and to say "We got this in Ireland." And it's fun for the recipient too.

It used to be true, too, that Waterford had certain lines that were not exported. So some of what you could buy in Ireland might not be available in the US.
