Going on a cruise in July which leaves out of Dover. We will be flying into London. We will be coming in a day earlier and would like a unique place to stay for a day and a night that will still be accessable to take the train on to Dover. Small pituresque town
If you decide to go with Delta out of ATL, opt for a flight landing at Gatwick instead of Heathrow. From there you can take the train into London Victoria station where you can transfer to a train going to the Southeast. There are lots of possibilities, but I'd go for Canterbury to spend the day and night. From Canterbury, you can take a National Express bus right to the Dover Ferry Port (30 minutes).
Hi Cheryl - We left out of Dover on a cruise last September. For 2 nights before, we stayed at Birchley Hall in Kent. There is a 2 night minimum stay, but the place and the owners are wonderful!!! Not far from Canterbury and very close to Sissinghurst Gardens. They had beautiful grounds with model trains throughout the property. We had plenty to do and a great local pub for our evening meals. It was a special place to stay! Go to http://www.birchleyhouse.co.uk/Contact.htm
Good luck,

Thank you for your help
