I'm a HUGE "Corrie" fan and want to go see it when in Manchester. Has anyone been? What should I consider when planning to check it out? Any tips, comments or suggestions?

Our cable system in Seattle carries CBC British Columbia, and I have found Coronation Street to be quite a hoot, with a nice mix of plausible characters of all types (I still have to use the closed-captioning to understand much of the dialogue), awfully different from US daytime drama. I am told by my British friends that it is prime-time "appointment" TV there three or four nights a week.
I considered a side trip to Manchester on a recent UK visit, but sadly the Granada Studio Tour, a sort of a theme park which included the exterior set of the Street, shut down in 1999. Here is a Wikipedia link:

Wow! FA, all I know is that it's in Manchester. I want to have a walk-on part. I'll see what I can find out....Laurel
