Cork, Ireland area

I will be using public transportation on a 3-week trip to Ireland in September and want to know where I should base myself for 3 days in the Cork area. I was thinking of getting a B&B in Kinsale and using buses to Blarney and Cork; is this possible? In Kinsale, is the Don Herlihy's Historic Town Walk worth it? What is the fee? Thanks, Dorsey
