Hello! Curious about Cork Airport and its hours of rental car agencies...also, how is driving into Cork versus Kinsale if we have never driven on that side and will be VERY tired from a LONG flight(s)?? Thanks!
The rental agencies are lined up towards the airport with easy connections by bus or your rental agency.
I just heard something that said most accidents happen within an hour of arriving in a foreign country especially when you factor in fatigue, driving a new car on the 'wrong' side of the road and not knowing where you are going.
Consider taking the bus into town and picking up the rental the next day after a good night's sleep or staying close to the airport. Cork is not too far from the airport. Alternatively, Cork is best seen without a car and Kinsale is an easy bus ride so you may possibly save some money on a rental if you don't need it straightway. By then you will be a little more acclimated to the driving. The area is quite hilly and parking can been a pain due to the time restrictions and lack of space.
It is an impressive little place so if you have the time to spare see it when you are fresh and not jet lagged.
I would recommend taking the bus from the airport to Kinsale if you are concerned about jet lag and driving on the left. Kinsale will be a lot less hectic than Cork and everything is within walking distance. The bus runs often especially between 7-10 in the morning. You can take the bus back from Kinsale after your stay there and pick up your rental at the airport. Bus stops right outside airport doors.
