Connemara/Aran Islands

We will be traveling this May to the Connemara area of Ireland. Any suggestions as to B & B's in the area? We would use that location for day trip to Aran Islands.

We stayed at the Quay House in Clifden four years ago. Clifden is a nice town and a good base for Connemara. We were happy with the Quay House lovely, friendly owners and quiet location on the coast at the bottom of the hill from the main part of time (meaning nice and quiet).

If you want to go to the Aran Islands from there, you will have to stay in Rossaveel, which is where the ferries leave from. We loved the Atlantic View in Clifden, but Clifden is not a convenient place to stay for a day trip to the Arans.

There is bus service to the ferry dock; it picks up in Galway town center and in Salt Hill. Round trip bus fare from Galway, purchased at same time as ferry ticket, was 7 euros. Other alternative is to drive to the dock but roads can be slow going so plan you time carefully. Much depends on which ferry you want to catch and whether you want to overnight on one of the islands.
