Colquhoun Guest House in Edinburgh

Hi all!
We were considering Colquhuon guest house in Edinburgh for our stay in Edinburgh later this summer, and we see that there have been no recent posts regarding this B&B here, or on TripAdvisor. Has anybody stayed there recently(in 2009 or 2010)? We would really appreciate your opinion of the lodging if you have. Also, it used to be one of Rick Steves recommended places to stay but isn't any longer. Does anyone know why? Thanks in advance for your replies.

You could email or call the Rick Steves offices and ask. He does change up hotels. I have always wondered if its because the originally recommended place has gotten worse, or if he's just found some place better. The location is not bad, although a wee bit further out than I would like.

I don't know about the Colquohuon guest house, but we just stayed in a very nice one last month, Elderfields Guest House.

The atmosphere was comfortable with lots of antiques and extra care taken with period decorating as the house was built around 1870, great breakfast with plenty of fresh fruit, very clean and the owner, Maureen was so warm and friendly. Prices are pretty reasonable, running around 70 GBP for a double with private bath, and included the breakfast. Location was a 10 min. walk from Holyrood Palace and the Royal Mile and our bedroom looked right out on Arthurs Seat.
