Are there many points of interest in Cobh pertaining to the Titanic and Lusitania disasters? Rick mentions the "Titanic Trail" walking tour, but I'm afraid we won't arrive until later in the day. Is The Queenstown Story museum worthwhile?
Queenstown Story museum is absolutely worthwhile! It has a whole section about the Titanic as well information about Cobh's history as a seaport, from the Famine days to the present. My son and I loved it.
My daughter, who was recently in Ireland, drove a 200 km round trip from Bantry to visit Cobh and the museums. She said it was worth every kilometre.
I also think the Queenstown Story museum is very worthwhile. My husband and I loved it. It was one of our favorite museum/stops on our 10-day trip.
There is a small museum in Kinsale that has a section on the Lusitania, what I found to be of particular interest was a copy of the submarines logbook. It does not always agree with what we were taught in history class.
Hiatory is always written by the victors! Yes there are a lot of contradictory stories about the Lusitania, but who to believe?
We visited the Queenstown Story last September and it was well worthwhile. A heartwrenching experience, but well worth teh 3 hours we spent there.
