I have read on this website and in other locations that THE way to see and experience the Cliffs is by boat. Does anyone have any recommendations for boat companies to use or those to avoid? Are reservations needed ahead of time? We will be travelling in early September and will visit the Cliffs of Mohr on the the first day that we arrive in Ireland.
I haven't done the boat trip but I think you have to get it out of Doolin, not at the cliffs themselves. At the cliffs, though, is a new, multi-million-euro visitor center built into the hillside that gives you great views, too. The best view of the cliffs is in the afternoon when the sun is on them, so even by boat it won't be optimal in the morning.
