Cliffs Of Moher- how much? - is it worth it?

On our last full day in Ireland we're driving to Bunratty from Cork City. That's just about a 2 hour drive +- a bit. Then Cliffs of Moher is an hour and 20 minute there- same back and another 2 hours thrown in to take at least a bit of it in. How much is the admission- we have a 25% discount card for "Shannon Region" and is taking in the sights truly as breathtaking as it looks? And it IS our last full day. We fly out of Shannon mid morning next day.

was there last year again...i forget the admission...not that bad...if you are in that area it is a must...i've been there on a rainy foggy day and very ominous yet still impressive...last year was sunny and clear and you could see the aran islands in the distance...one of the simply stunning places on earth...

It's crowded with tourists - for good reason! It's an impressive sight. I wouldn't miss it.

I would skip it in your case. I was somewhat disspointed and ended spending about 10 min at the cliffs.
I prefer Colorado, Utah and Canadian Rockies as an example of spectacular.

Absolutely not to be missed! And the best pictures are in the afternoon. The standard adult admission is 8.45 euros, which includes parking and admission to the cliffedge visitors center. In addition to just seeing the cliffs, the new visitor center has interpretive displays and activities.

Definitely do the cliffs. Not that expensive, well worth a couple of hours. We spent half a day there last summer.

I thought the pricing was a little different than what was posted -- it's 8 euro to get in to see the cliffs, that covers parking, too (price is per vehicle), but to see the Atlantic Edge exhibit, it's an additional 5 euro pp. They have family and group discounts for that. The exhibit was cool, but skippable if you only have a short time.

If the weather permits, the next time I am in Ireland I plan to do a cruise to the Cliffs. For the Canadian naysayer, I suspect your opinion would differ if you'd had that view. The Cliffs of Moher are every bit as spectacular as Big Sur.

Maureen, the official Cliffs of Moher website says the price includes parking and admission to the Atlantic Edge Exhibition - 8.45 euro for an adult. But perhaps it is different at different times of the year.

Thanks all for the input- as always- great info from these RS posters. We'll definitely make the drive. Spectacular is what YOU make of anything. I'd have to add to the list, Waipo Valley looking down into it from the heights, the view to the south from the tower at the summit of Mt Constitution on Orcas Island, sunrise on the Tetons from Oxbow Bend, the joyous smile on my grandson Donovan's face.

A definite must see. My husband was having one of those 'grumpy' days when you have been driving and travelling for days. We were on route to Cong from Dingle. Visiting the Cliffs was a 'must do' for me.
After much moaning and groaning about stopping to see some bl....y cliffs, he admitted it was one of the highlights of Ireland for him.

Just got back yesterday, we were at the Cliffs last week. It cost 8euro to park. That is it. It is a beautiful site. Tourism is so down that there were very few people there (all of Ireland was very quiet) Only one or two tour buses came through. We stopped on our way from Galway to Dingle. We were in and out in an hour and a half. They have a little cafeteria, visitors center and great bathrooms

I also put them in the "must see" category. We went in the AM then drove up to Doolin and took one of the cliff cruises. It was a great experience.

Aw Shawn, Well said. We're glad you decided to spend part of your last day there. It's true beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Thanks to all the responders for ALL the Q's I posted. Just got back from Ireland last night. And we DID go see the Cliffs our last day - spent about 3 1/2 hours up there - beautiful sunshine- got a bit of a sunburn, actually. The flight home was a LONG one- weather back here and flights backing up had us on the "journey" for about 22 hours- from 9:15am in Shannon to 12:10 am next day here in CO. But we had a wonderful time! Thanks!
