Clifden, Doolin, or Galway

I've been told Connemara and an overnight stay in Clifden should be a must on my first trip to Ireland, but others have stated that I would enjoy Doolin and the Cliffs of Moher instead. Is either location worth an overnight stay or would I enjoy a couple of nights in Galway and take tours to both.

It completely depends on what else you are doing on your trip. Yes, Doolin and the Cliffs are a must-see, and so is Clifden, the Sky Road, and the Twelve Bens (in my opinion). But you don't want to backtrack to Galway to see both. Depending on where you are coming from before that, Doolin might not be a far enough drive on that day. Likewise, if you stay in Galway, driving to Clifden and on around the circle back there via Clifden, Sky Road, etc., will be a VERY long day. Can you give us more information about the other stops on your trip?

Nancy, thank you for the travel advice. I am arriving in Dublin on the 11th, and had to spend the night and then take the train to Galway the next morning. From Galway, i would take the bus to Clifden or Doolin. I have seven days on my own before meeting up with friends back in Dublin for four more days in the Dublin area. I know a car would probably better, but i dont think i can trust myself to drive on the left...best for me as well as the other motorists. Thanks so much for any travel tips for my trip
