Clearing customs in Iceland

HI,
We are planning a trip to the British Isles in August, and considering using Iceland air. Our connections will be in Rejavik, with a 1:05 layover. Will we need to "clear" Iceland customs prior to departing, or is the airport considered "international" space, with no customs clearance necessary? Thanks for any help you can be.

While Iceland is a member of the Schengen zone, the UK is not. So immigration and customs will occur when you enter the UK not Rejavik. But even if you did have to do immigration at Rejavik, an hour is more than enough time as it's a tiny little airport.

It's a tiny airport and they're very efficient with clearances. Flights are arriving from various US cities and leaving for various European cities in the same timeframe and they move you through the process quickly, including another trip through security before you board your next flight. You'll be in line with lots of people guzzling the water they thought they'd have two flights to finish. But, as I recall, you can keep your shoes on. Since UK isn't in Schengen, you'll have another immigration and customs clearance there. We've had only good experiences flying with Icelandair.

Thanks Dick, I wrote directly to Iceland air and they said "You'll go through passport control in Rejyavik and clear customs and immigration in London. Don't be concerned, there will be plenty of time to get to your next flight". So my concerns are addressed. Thanks again! Tony
