We want to find a city ( or a b and b if you have a great one in mind) to spend 2 nights so that we can easliy explore both Dingle and Ring of Kerry. We were thinking of Kenmare - but think it is too far east?? Any ideas?

We're planning to stay near Kenmare to visit these areas. We think it will be a good base for day trips throughout the region via rental car. The place we're staring is The Brambles. www.brambleskenmare.com

We stayed a night in Kenmare and left at 9:00AM,drove the ROK and arrived in Dingle at 4PM>WE made a number of stops. However I suggest that 2 nights in Dingle Town is better as that gives you a day to drive the Peninsula. I liked the Dingle Peninsula much better then the ROK.

Agree with previous post, skip Ring and just concentrate on Dingle. We stayed at the Lighthouse in Dingle, private car park, nice rooms, not in center of town, good view and very easy to find.

We stayed in Killarney. I was surprised how much I enjoyed Killarney (the town, the park, Muckross Castle, trad session at the Grand Hotel), I was expecting more of a tourist trap.
