My husband and I will have about 7-9 days in Europe in late April. We are going to Amsterdam for 3 days and want to combine it with another city. Brugges sounds nice, but a lot like Amsterdam. Any suggestions for somewhere a little more diverse for that time of year? We have been all over France, Italy and Spain.

Look at the fast train links from amsterdam - see "man in seat sixty one". You can get really far in a few hours. ?berlin, Copenhagen

I would second Berlin and also suggest London. Another thought would be to head to the AlpsSalzburg. You could probably find a cheap flight to Munich and then train from there or just stay in Munich. ; )
