My family of 8 adults & a 6 yr old will be in London on Chrstmas Day, 2010. We're staying @ the Lime Tree Hotel. They have given me a list of places for Christmas Lunch. I'm on a wait list @ The Orange pub. I'd like to stay app 35 pounds per person. Anyone got other suggestions? thanks
Here is the list of restaurants open on Christmas Day from "Time Out" magazine. Some of them are a lot more expensive than you're looking for, but there are cheaper ones if you read the whole article. I have two big cautions though: firstly, you will have to book in advance, and secondly, remember that apart from a couple of airport links there is no public transportation in London on Christmas Day so you will be dependent on taxis to go anywhere beyond walking distance.
If you would consider Turkish food, Sofra has several restaurants in London. Maybe 1 is within walking distance? We were in London last Christmas, and while we ate in our flat, we walked past 2 of the Sofra's on Christmas Day. Not only were they open, they were not super crowded. We ended up eating there on Boxing Day and it was very good. http://www.sofra.co.uk/
Here is a website with a list of restaurants that are open on Christmas ......http://www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/features/3836/London_restaurants_open_on_Christmas_Day_2010.html......also, if you do a search like restaurants in London opened on Christmas you might find more. I would strongly suggest when you see one that you want to eat at call them and make reservations asap.

They are apparantly an agent as they are a little coy about who actually operates the tours, but a good guess is that the major day tour companies do something. Also another tour is a Christmas day tour of the City of London "without overwhelming tourists'
