My family is spending this Christmas in London and we want to have a great traditional English Christmas dinner but obviously a lot restaurants will be closed. Does anyone know of a good restaurant that is open on Christmas? If we can't find a good one, we'll probably try to put something traditional together in our apartment. Thanks in advance!
Laura,
Here's a list that may help. http://www.londoneats.com/news/christmasdinner.asp Cheers, Gary
Slightly off topic but may be relevant. What may influence your decision is whether you will need to use public transport - as far as I am aware there is very little running in London on Christmas Day. London cabs are expensive anytime and may be more expensive on holidays such as these.
I'm often in London at Christmas and have had no trouble finding a pub that offered the "traditional" Xmas dinner complete with poppers and hats. As a previous poster noted public transportation is nearly nonexistent so be prepared to walk. Truth be told walking through Hyde Park is one of my favorite things to do on Xmas. Fun to watch kids out with new toys, parents with new coats, etc. If you are early risers watching the Peter Pan Cup Race at the Serpentine is the prefect way to start the day. Love London on Xmas day. Quieter and less crowded. Really get to see the Londoner's way of life. Be sure to see a panto. Truly a bit of English tradition during the Christmas holidays. Have a wonderful trip!
