Children in pubs in Scotland?

My husband and I are going to Scotland in a few weeks with our 5 month old daughter. Are there any laws against having a baby/child in a pub? We like the atmosphere in them and enjoy eating and drinking in them. I know that in Ireland, it is no children after 9pm. Does anyone know if Scotland has any kind of law like that??

Thanks,
Heather

If a pub holds a children's certificate then children can be in a pub with an adult to 8:00pm. I know that in a lot of pubs if an adult(s) have children with them they will only be served two drinks.

I supoose the atmosphere of a pub can change later in the evening,, seems to me a child needn't be in a pub much after nine anyways,, but, a baby,, well its not like they will be sneaking sips of beer or hearing and understanding bad words, LOL , ,this is a good question Heather.

I have to say though,, I found that getting up in the middle of the night to tend to a baby, or early in am,, is kind of tough( on me anyways) after I've had more then a couple of drinks anyways so retiring from a pub at nine wouldn't kill me.

Some pubs allow children, others do not, as stated above. The JD Wetherspoon chain of pubs allow children, at least the ones I have been in have. You would need to ask in any pub what time do they ask parents and children to leave. This is from their website: Child/bar policy: Children are welcome in the bar area. (Restrictions apply)

You might want to explore this site. http://eatscotland.visitscotland.com/default.aspx It has lots of links to restaurants and pubs. It does seem a bit "foodie." From personal experience I know that the Music Bar in Dunkeld allowed children in for dinner. I expect too that smaller town pubs are probably more likely to allow children. I also like the Rampant Scotland site http://www.rampantscotland.com/ You can look at the food and drink link and find out lots and lots of information. This site has been around for quite a while.
