20p coins could be worth 50 GBP
Would you care to explain?
Looks easy enough to figure out. In the UK: Due to a minting error on new 20p coins, a 20p coin may be worth 50 pounds if it has no date on it and does not have the rose on the back.. So I wouldnt use it for the loo at the tube station, I would take it to a coin dealer instead....thanks Frank!
I don't think the rose has anything to do with it, Tami, just the lack of a date. The article says the rose was used until 2008, and the design was changed.
This even made it to our local paper. Apparently the "value" of the error coins is rising quickly.
Ok I got the impression that the design had changed when the date was supposed to go on the front instead, so it wouldnt have a rose if it is one of the new errored ones.
