I will be arriving in Gatwick on April 27th at 8am. What is the best way and cheapest way to get into central London from the Airport short of taking the Gatwick Express?
The cheapest way will be the train
"Best" and "cheapest" aren't necessarily the same thing. Airport transfer buses are the cheapest way, and avoid you having to lug your luggage around too much. But they're also take the longest to get into London, and that can be dragged out even longer by traffic jams. Besides the Gatwick Express, the First Capital and Southern train companies run regular trains into London, which don't take that much longer than the Express, and are cheaper. Which one depends on where in London you want to go. For a complete list of options, click here.
Technically, the cheapest way to London is the easyBus bus link costing from 2 GBP.
The best way will probably be by train and much depend on where you are staying in London as there are 4 different services which between them cover different hotel districts and different pricing.
We've had good luck with the Gatwick Express with the 4-for-2 (sometimes called the family pass).

All you need are 4 people who are willing to sit together during the ride from Gatwick to Victoria Station. The effective price of a 16.90 gpb ticket is 8.45 gbp. You can usually locate other people outside at the station, waiting at customs, or waiting for luggage at Gatwick who are willing to split the cost.
I think you shd grab a cab From Gatwick with
