Hi- I'm planning a week long trip to London and am looking for interesting, cheap, and safe neighborhoods to stay in. We'll likely rent an apartment for the week but aren't really sure where to stay. We'll want something easily accessible to public transporation, still in the city, and reasonably priced. Any ideas?
Bayswater and Paddington area. It's close to Paddington station and Lancaster Gate tube.
Earls Court.
Kensington Mansions on Warwick Rd in Earls Ct are apartment rentals.
The Earls Ct tube station is on Warwick( Blue-Piccadilly line and Green-District line)and is nearby as well as High St Kensington. Earls Ct is a residential area and quite safe and inexpensive.
It is walking distance to Harrods, Victoria and Albert museum, and the #74 bus on Cromwell Rd takes you to Kensington Palace and Hyde Park.
Full sized Tesco and Sainsburys. Starbucks and pubs on Earls Ct road and the Kensington high street.
I always stay in this area and simply love it. It has everything I need near my hotel and is easily accesible to everything.
Bayswater and the Earls Court area of kensington would be my first pick too, both districts have plenty of apartments.
There are good write ups of both districts at:
Thanks so much for these suggestions! This is very helpful!
