cheap place to stay in London in June

We are going to be 2 nights in London in late June - just found this out. I tried the Wellington Hotel and Kensington Guest HOuse (which I've not heard back from) and am not sure they're still operating. Need suggestions! We'd hoped to stay in a college dorm but they don't open til July 3. Help! We're close to 70 years old so a hostel might not be appropriate. Thanks. Julia

Have you tried Lancaster Hall, which is run by the German YMCA?

not the most 'authentic' place, but look in to easyHotel, if you don't need a lot of space. you can book online. have a great trip!

London's Hostelling International-run hostels seem to have a reputation of catering to an older, more low-key demographic -- something I've noticed a lot of younger backpacker types tend to complain about. They offer private rooms, which aren't too different from any budget hotel. Look into YHA Hostels, there are a number of locations around the city.

Hi Julia,
We booked at Cherry Court Hotel, and EasyHotel for this coming July. I haven't stayed in either of these places, but both are recommended by Rick. Good luck, and enjoy your trip!

Here is the address for the Cherry Court:

Easyhotel is great. www.easyhotel.com

I always stay at the Earls Ct location because it is 20-25 pounds a night when I book a few months in advance. That is only $35-$45 dollars a night for a VERY clean room with an ensuite bathroom and shower. Frills are extra, but location is perfect and I only need a bed and shower anyhow!

Plus that one is down the street from Tesco grocery and tons of shops on Earls Ct road, Kensington High street, and a 7 minute walk to Earls Ct or Kensington High St tube station!
