We're headed to England next week to visit my sister, any suggestions for cheap accomodations you can get on a moments notice in London (2 adults 3 kids).
The Arran house Hotel is a B&B in Bloomsbury that gets very high marks in the Lonely Planet London guidebook. It has rooms for five, both basic and ensuite.
Wow,, super late .. but maybe your sister ( who I is in London already) could do some asking around.
You could also check out a site called latebooking.com they may be able to find you something. Has sister suggested an area that would be conveneint for you and her ?
Good luck,, I will say ,,the third child makes it ever so much harder( I have three kids too!)
Problem is that sister is here and flying back with us so she's not in any better position to find stuff than we are ;-|
Cheap is relative right? I'm just thinking we can always find a motel around here for like 30% off what a hotel is. I'm just wondering if there is something cheap in comparison to most of the other available accomodations there are there. I don't want to be unrelistic, but we'd like to spend our $$ doing something other than sleeping. ;-)
That said, I've seen alot of stuff in the 100-120 pounds range, cheaper than that would be a good start.
Thanks.
Brian, check out visitlondon.com and look under accommodations. The college dorms are probably not open yet but there are quite a few hostels listed. Since you most likely will need two rooms, that may be a viable option.
Try the London Scool of Economics, they have year round accom available ie look for LSE Top Floor on the site.
priceline.com works for london and is best used when done on VERY short notice (i've stayed in four star hotels in major cities for $40). if you have an iphone there's an awesome free app that will show you what people have recently (as in the last few hours) have paid for the various areas and star levels. if you DON'T have an iphone, try it anyway online. bid very low (i start at $30 and have never gone above $60), and be sure to only put in areas you'd really be ok with. don't go under 3.5 stars and pretty much no matter what, if you 'win', you'll be staying in a good area. if you 'win' your bid, you can add an additional room on for the same rate, which you might need with that many people (and you can also add up to as many nights extra as you've already booked) best of luck, and have a great trip!
Blades Hotel is a great place to stay......http://www.blades-hotel.co.uk and it's a 3 minute walk to Pimlico tube station.
Problem I have encountered with Priceline, it only really works for TWO people, will not allow you to choose a room for more, plus, I putting in mulitple bids ( say two rooms, one double and one triple , or 3 doubles, ) will not guarantee you are all in same hotel!!
We (2 adults and three kids) fit in a room at Vandon House. Private bath. Dad used the hall bath to speed up the line waiting to use in room.
Nothing fancy but a good location, breakfast and clean noisy pigeons outside.
I’ll second Blades Hotel - Pimlico and will add Cherry Court Hotel - Victoria. Both are inexpensive and can accommodate families. It’s been a few years since I visited, so I might suggest checking tripadvisor for latest reviews, photos, etc.
