Just thought I'd mention for those who may be interested in staying in one location for 7 nights (especially if you've rented a car): Self-catering cottages can be really nice and really cheap. We did this last year where four of us rented a 2-bedroom cottage near York. Explored the Yorkshire Moors and York, using our cottage as a base. I think it cost us about $25 per person per night. Yes, U.S. dollars. I'm looking into others that are £195/week for two people. That's only $55 per night. Of course it's not during June and July, but many of them call May the low season, giving you the best rates. Worth checking into if you plan to explore the countryside. Just do a search for 'self-catering cottages' plus the city near which you want to stay.
