Greetings all, My spouse and I plan to be in Ireland for a week and will be driving; thus, will have the flexibility to stay overnight in 1 city for a few nights and day trip. Currently, we know we'll do a few nights at the beginning of our trip in Doolin (to see the Cliffs of Moher and Galway) and at the end of our trip in Dublin. Now we just need a place for the middle of our trip (to see Killarney, Dingle, Kenmare, Tralee, areas. What we can of the SW, basically). Would COVET your opinions on a nice "base town" that will easily access these areas and is not hyper-touristy/expensive. Perhaps you might even recommend a particular B & B or hotel you stayed at that was adequately priced. Thanks much! Cheers, liz

Kenmare is conveniently located for both the Ring of Beara and the Ring of Kerry. We stayed at Virginia's Guest House which is right in the middle; most restaurants and music pubs. were within a five minute walk. You can also do a day trip from there to Dingle; however, I would recommend heading from Doolin early morning to Dingle, overnight there, leave Dingle mid-afternoon for Kenmare.
