Charming, beautiful B&B or Inn near Cliffs of Moher??

I've been researching and researching, but I haven't yet found what I had envisioned in the way of a charming inn or B&B close (with 15-20 minutes drive) to the Cliffs of Moher (on the coast). I realize there are many wonderful options within an hour's drive in-land, but had hoped to actually stay on the coast for a night. (I've read that viewing the Cliffs late in early evening is often best, due to the angle of the sunlight and the chance for rain/fog to have passed.....along with better chances over two days). One B&B got excellent Trip Advisor reviews, but when I showed the on-line
photos to my husband, his first reaction was that it did not look like a place he would have expected me to choose (architecture/landscaping). Most B&Bs along the coast seem to have more basic architecture, looking more 1960s/70s vs. the older styling I would have expected. .........and, of course, cleanliness, hospitality, and excellent reviews will trump beautiful any day....but is there a place that combines the best of both worlds? Suggestions?

Hi Margaret, There are a number of cozy B&Bs in Doolin, which is right on the coast and only about 20 minutes from the Cliffs. Most seem to be newer construction, but very comfortable and clean. The Sea View Inn even has...views of the sea! ;) We stayed there last May and enjoyed it very much. Considering how much time you'll actually spend at the B&B (not much), I wouldn't worry too much about "old world" ambience. Besides, you can get that in the pub across the road. Can't get much better than that!

Definitely recommend Seaview, in Doolin, greeted with tea, cookies, has own private car park, great view and maybe five minute walk to great pubs for trad music. Look up their website.

On our very first trip to Ireland, we stayed at Moher Lodge, on the Cliffs road, about five minutes' drive from the Cliffs themselves. It is a "farmhouse" B&B, and the hosts are the Considines. We were greeted with tea and cookies. We drove a few minutes down the road to Doolin for dinner. Breakfast was fantastic, and Mrs. Considine told us all about what they "farmed" - Liscannor Slate, a huge piece of which was made into the dining room fireplace.

We stayed at the Doonagore Farmhouse which is about halfway between the Cliffs and Doolin. I'm not sure they are still in business. I can't get their website to load. B&B Ireland has a very good website for all B&Bs in Ireland. The website address is www.bandbireland.com Just like you, I also cross reference them with Trip Advisor reviews to narrow down my search. Safe Travels.
