We have AT&T razors and are going to Scotland early next month and we want to know if we can safely charge the phones with a standard adapter and the converter.

Look at the cell phone's charging unit. If it says something like "110-220" or "100-240" then it will cope automatically with the 220 volts overseas, and all you need is the big three-pronged British adapter plug. If it only says "110 volts", then you'll have to get a converter AND the adapter plug.
