Does anyone who has stayed in one or has heard good things about one have a recommendation about a castle hotel in either Ireland or Northern Ireland? We are planning to stay in one but there seems to be a lot of options and wasn't sure if anyone had stayed in one.

A few years ago on business, several of us stayed at
Clontarf Castle near Dublin. We really enjoyed it. Although it is an old castle, it has been redone as an upper end hotel.

Justin, one of the most beautiful Castle Hotels I've ever seen is Ashford Castle, near Cong (where "The Quiet Man" with John Wayne was filmed). If your budget will stand it, that would be my suggestion (as I recall, Pierce Brosnan held his wedding there). Check their website, www.ashford.ie/index.php for further details.

Just returned from Dublin and stayed in Clontarf Castle....it was wonderful.....we treated ourselves to two nights there and couldn't have been happier.....quiet, tasteful....some luxury too! A pub, club and a restaurant are on the property.....full and I do mean full breakfast....the location is quite peaceful....
