Carlingford (County Louth), Ireland

Has anyone been to Carlingford and, if so, would you recommend it as an overnight stop? The author of one of my guides says it is her favorite town in Ireland but, interestingly, doesn't say much about it.

Since you aren't getting any answers, you might want to try irelandexpert.com. It is a website similar to this one but only deals with Ireland.
