You are close to departure dates. cCrdiff is a big City with lots of business; while Bath has a lot of tourists. I would book both those as soon as you can, otherwise you could spend some frustrating time trying to find a place to stay that meets your standards. The others you could possibly wing it, may end up staying out of town a bit. My preference always is to review hotel/B&B reviews etc first and have a short list of places I would like to stay. If one really jumps out at me, i try and reserve it ahead of time

Www.discoverireland.com has listings of B&Bs in Ireland, easy to use to find places in the cities you mention. Most have email and can be easily booked in advance from home (and in July I would highly recommend doing so). I'm curious, though, why you are staying in both Dun Laoghaire and Howth. They are actually just on the opposite sides of Dublin from each other. But to directly answer your question, yes, you can find accomodations from the TIs, but this is peak tourist season and your choice is probably better right now.

Can't speak for June/July but we just returned from 3 weeks in Ireland and had no trouble finding B&Bs in Kinsale, Kenmare and Doolin. I echo Brian's comments. I used Rick's book and Trip Advisor and took a short list of B&Bs in the towns I tentatively planned to stay in. I made a list of the B&Bs with phone #'s, and my general comments gathered from my two sources-such as "in town" or "2 km from town" or approx per night cost. It was very helpful and we had no problems the entire trip finding accommodations quickly. HoweverNancy is the expertso maybe for June/July reservations are necessary. Myself-I'd be more adventurous and wing it. :)

I don't think I would leave Conwy or Bath to chance, and Cardiff is a pretty big place, so if you have any preference as to where you are located, I'd book that in advance, too. I'm planning a weekend trip to Conwy and am considering the Travelodge in Colwyn Bay again with the train to Conwy. Conwy is beautiful and has some lovely places to stay but getting them at a reasonable rate isn't easy. (I blame Rick Steve for letting us in on what a beautiful town it is!)

I just returned from England and while in the Bath area, we stayed at a B&B outside of Bath called Windwistle Cottage. I tried to book a room in Bath two months prior to our arrival and found nothing within our price range. Thanks to a recommendation from our tour guide (Alan Price at Celtic Horizons - http://www.celtichorizons.com/main/index.php?site=tour), he found Windwistle for us. It's a gem of a place, though it's not in Bath. Windwistle and other recommendations are on the Celtic Horizons website.
