Car rentals in Ireland: Am I Missing Something?

I believe the blogs were mentioning to rent in Ireland vs. through the U.S. Malone car rental was mentioned . They want $390 for 3 days, Dan Dooley was another and they want $750 ? Atlas car rental here in u.s. wants $248 ? Am I missing something? Confused.
